Each student has a poetry folder. This is a 3 prong folder.
I usually buy these in an assortment of colors before school
starts for 10-20 cents apiece.

originally from ABC Teach. I changed the font and added
a place for students to write their name. You can paste it
onto the front of the poetry folder but I use it for the first
page in their folders. Then, students illustrate the outside
of the folder, so they can easily recognize their own.
These can be kept in a tub for easy access.
Poems are monthly, seasonal, theme related, or student created.
Type the poem at the bottom of the page and let the students
illustrate the space above the poem. These are already 3 hole punched,
so they can put them in their folders. Students are shown how to do this
right away at the beginning of the year one-on-one with a para educator or
in a small group. It is worth the extra time to put this "ownership" on them.
Soon they can do it easily by themselves!
